Our Week in P5M

Written by: Isabella and Alfie

P5M have been learning about the digestive system. We made fake poo(!) out of bananas, crackers, water and orange juice. There were three groups constipation, normal and diarrhoea. We had to vary the amount of liquid we added to each to achieve a different consistency. The next step was to squeeze our mixture through a pair of tights, which represented our intestines. We had a great time but it was also very unpleasant!

P7B are learning about the culture of Diwali. We loved learning about the story of Diwali, especially the story of Rama and Sita.

Lottie and Ingrid came to our school and showed us how to make masks and we decorated them. Thank you so much for your help! We got to be very creative by making masks similar to those that can be seen in the Diwali Parade in Edinburgh, on Saturday 3rd November. We had lots of fun doing this activity. They were so colourful and shiny.

Our Week in P6

Written by: Ayaan, Gene & Rory

In P6 we have been going to swimming lessons at James Gillespie’s High School.

In maths, we have been learning about angles and compass points.

We have been focusing on Bible stories and doing worksheets on the stories to test our knowledge in R.M.E. We made monkey masks for Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Light.

In German we have been learning the alphabet and playing games to help us memorise the letters.

On Monday we had a taster of American football and we learnt how to catch an American football correctly.

Our Week in P3/4

Written by: Jordan

In P3/4 we have been learning about electricity and we made models which contained working circuits. We first got loads of boxes and stuck them together and then added our light bulb circuits. Next we covered the boxes in pieces of newspaper by dipping the paper in glue and sticking it on. Then we put a coating of white paint over the paper and we waited for it to dry. After a few days, the last step was to paint over the white paint. We haven’t quite finished yet but we still got a lot done because Mrs Denvir helped. It was really fun.

Our Week in P4

Written by: Finlay

Last Friday we had a Halloween party at school, organised by our PTA. It was so much fun and we played lots of different games.

Now we are busy doing things for the Christmas Fair as part of our enterprise topic! It is very fun but we need to keep it a secret just now. Watch this space for further clues as the Fair date approaches – Friday 7th December.

Welcome to P4

Hello and welcome to the P4 blog page. I hope to be able to keep you up to date with all the exciting things we have planned for the year. I will also make sure that I tweet what’s happening in class. Please look out for these on our Roseburn page.

Our Week in P3

Written by: Charlize  & Olivia

In P3 we found a dragon egg! We had to write instructions of how to hatch it. This is how it started:

“Have you discovered a glittery dragon egg in your garden? If so do not despair, help is at hand!”

We looked after it and it hatched in our teacher’s house. It is in our classroom right now.

Our Week in P1/2

Written by: Cillian & Max L

In P1/2 we made bread because we’re learning the story of the Little Red Hen. We had to knead for a very long time and it was quite tiring. At the end of the day we got to take home our bread rolls.

We have been practising telling the story using lots of actions and we have drawn a story map to help us remember the order in which things happen.
