Our Week in P2

Written by: Valene

P2 have been painting dots this week for art. In the first lesson, with Miss Mitchell,  we did drawings starting with a tiny dot. The next lesson we painted different types of dots and mixed paint up to make different dots and new colours. In the last lesson we used cotton buds and we made little dots of fireworks. It was really fun.

Welcome to P1/2

Welcome to Primary 1/2!

We have already enjoyed a full term as a new class, getting to know each other and welcoming our brand new P1s into Roseburn. We are looking forward to a very busy term ahead with lots to learn and some exciting events on the horizon, including welcoming parents and carers for our Sharing Assembly (23/11/18) and the Nativity (14/12/18).

A reminder that we have:

  • PE  on Tuesday and Friday at 10:45
  • Library on Wednesday at 13:00

As always, if you have any queries or would like to discuss your child’s learning then please get in touch. I look forward to meeting with you all on 14th or 16th November at the upcoming Parent Consultations.

Many thanks,

Kelly Thirgood

Our Week in P1

Written by: Finn & Zara

In Art, P1 have produced black pen line drawings of haunted houses and of the characters Meg and Mog. We have been reading and watching  Meg and Mog stories. We all liked the book and we now know that Meg is the witch and Mog is the cat.

Last Friday, P1 and P2 had a Hallowe’en party at school. We got to come to school dressed in spooky costumes. We made spiders from cards and straws and we got to put our hands in a cauldron full of jelly to find some Hallowe’en  treats. We finished the party with everyone together in the hall doing the Time Warp.

Our week in P7P

Written by: Elliot & Matthew

Recently in P7P we have been learning about poems and WW2. We have been looking at the poem Dulce et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owen. First we were going through the stanzas to figure out what each line meant. After that we used our prior knowledge to do a drama interpreting the poem.

Halloween!

Today we had lots of spooky looking visitors in the nursery for our Halloween party! The children helped plan the party choosing the food, activities, games and music. They all had a spooktackular time baking and icing ghost biscuits, mixing potions, carving pumpkins, dooking for apples and playing party games.

Autumn Leaves Are Falling Down!

This week the children have been talking a lot about the signs of Autumn. While out in the forest this week we noticed lots of changes from the colour of the leaves and the trees looking barer, to the change in temperature. The children had great fun as they rolled, threw, collected, compared and rustled all the leaves which had fallen from the trees! What an amazing Autumn experience!
