Morning everyone! Thank you to those who took on the challenge to guess the ingredients of my baking this week. The 5 ingredients in my loaf were:
bran / sugar / milk/ sultanas/ flour

Awaiting the results of the P6 Sumdog Challenge, you still have some time to answer a few more questions. Here are the answers to the measurement questions that were set this week. I saw great examples of practical measuring. The length and circumference of different parts of the body, measuring ingredients for cooking and baking, the perimeter of various items in the home and lots of scale drawings. I hope you are being accurate…
Some parents were asking how to tell whether the writing their children were doing had enough detail for the stage they were at; if they were on track; or how would they know what to suggest to help them improve their work. This assessment tool was created by the staff and is used to help assess learning at second level. Generally the first column would be expected at P5, the second at P6 and the third P7. The final column in black is the benchmark for achieving second level. Hope this helps. – Miss Gardner

Can you believe it’s almost the Easter holidays? I hope some of you have decided to enter the egg decorating competition on Twitter – I’m looking forward to seeing your entries!
I am super impressed at how many of you entered the SumDog competition yesterday! This ends on Friday morning and things are very close at the top of the leader board! Remember, accurate answers are key so take your time and use your whiteboard to help you do any working out!
Here are some intended learning and activities for literacy and numeracy to keep those brains ticking today!
Literacy
Today, let’s create a text of your choice. So far this year, we have focussed on different genres including play scripts, imaginative stories, poems and fact files. You may choose to create one of these or something different, like a letter to a relative or a friend. Before writing, think carefully about what your text will need to be successful, for example, a poem needs to have short lines and may include similes!

Numeracy
Today, let’s continue to work on subtraction. You can choose which strategy is best for you – pictures of strategies are available on Tuesday’s blog post.
Today, use your dice or a random number generator to create either 3 digit or 2 digit numbers, depending on how confident you feel. For example, if you roll a 6 and a 4 you can make 64 and then if you roll a 2 and a 9 you can make 29. Then subtract the smallest number from the biggest number using your preferred strategy.
You can choose to do this or to continue the SumDog challenge – you may wish to do a little bit of both!

Good morning P6.
I hope you are all keeping healthy, staying safe and being kind to yourselves and others.
By now, you should have nearly completed your autobiography. This would be a good time to read over them to ensure you have included capital letters, the correct punctuation, paragraphs and to ensure that it all make senses. I saw some of them before school closed and was very impressed with the amount of detail you were putting into them. I loved seeing the photos you brought in too – how innocent you looked!
Please make sure you share your hard work with your family. Perhaps you could quiz them on a section to test their understanding? I would love to see an excerpt (a short passage) which you can share with me via the admin e-mail or twitter.
Remember to keep your autobiographies. Who knows, this could be you one day? What would your title be?

1. On A4 paper draw a large egg shape in pencil ( or ask an adult to do this for you ).
2. Go over it with a dark felt pen and fill it with lots of patterns using different shapes and lines.
3. Colour your egg carefully with pencils, pens or paints. You could also brush over the pen with water which will make the colours run! EGGSperiment and have fun!
It would be great to see your work in your learning journals!
Good morning P3! Today’s task is for any of you who are animal lovers. Google has a great feature that allows you see animals in 3D. Check it out below!

You might also be able to manipulate the image to make it look like the animal is in your living room or garden! If you manage that I would love to see your photos! Sadly Miss Fraser’s phone didn’t have the right software for the photo option, but I did enjoy exploring all the animals in 3D. My favourite was the eagle!

Everyone should be reading for at least 30 minutes each day. Reading regularly is the best way to improve your reading skills. You could read to yourself or with someone in your house.
