1st June 2020 weekly learning grid
Health Week – Home Learning 1st – 5th June
On your marks…get set…for Health Week at Roseburn!
Whilst we are all sad we cannot host our traditional Heath Week/Sports Day in this beautiful weather, we have put together lots of ideas to help you make the best of it at home. Remember, there are many aspects to being healthy…not just exercise and diet.
Look out for the House Competition. We are challenging you all, adults and children alike, to get active over the next week and to log your activity for your House (https://www.getset.co.uk/travel-tokyo/school/roseburn-primary-school-eh12-5pl). Any physical activity can count, whether is is running, dancing, cycling or playing football in your garden. I wonder which House will be crowned winners at the end of the week…
This Home Learning Grid has activities from all areas of the curriculum. We do not expect that you will manage to complete everything. It is for the whole family to take part in so choose the ones you would like to do and which work best for you. Remember to share your work with us on Teams, on Learning Journals, via email or on Twitter.
Have a wonderful week!
Thank you!
We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our families for embracing Health Week and trying out lots of different activities. We really hope you have enjoyed yourselves as much as we have enjoyed seeing your updates on Teams, Journals and Twitter.
Here is just a very small snapshot of the enormous amount of learning that has taken place this week, from worry dolls and feelings charts to vegetable rainbows…and, of course, not forgetting the hugely popular Tree Trim Trail.
It is safe to say we are very, very proud of you all!
Here are the answers for the staff Question of Sport challenge. How many did you get correct?
If you are currently unable to make it to Roseburn Park to try out our Tree Trim Trail, you could have a go at home.
The results…

As a school, we have completed more than 1200 activities this week! That is an amazing amount of exercise and hopefully you will all be feeling the physical and mental benefits of being active.
It was an extremely close competition… Here are the House results:
Congratulations to Team Murrayfield for winning with a total of 307 sessions completed and a duration of almost 876 hours.

This week we are finishing up our tour of the senses with the sense of touch. This is the perfect opportunity to think about how many different things you touch within a day…and realise why it is so important to keep washing your hands!
Your sense of touch allows you to feel temperature and pain so it plays a really important role in keeping you safe. Scientists find is really hard to study this sense because it is so complicated but you can give it your best effort…
Here is your Home Learning grid with some different ideas of how you might start to explore touch…but if you come up with a better idea then please share it on Teams to let your classmates see!
We have spent the last 5 weeks exploring each of our senses. We hope you have had a lot of fun with the different activities and have, perhaps, learnt a new fact or two. This week we have enjoyed seeing the pictures of you all trying to work out what is inside feely bags, playing with radioactive goo, sharing items into equal groups and lots of other excellent learning that arose from following your own interests. Well done, Primary 1!
You are all doing an amazing job and are a credit to our school. There are only 4 more weeks to go – you can do this!

Primary 4 HL Grid – WB 25th May 2020
Good afternoon,
I hope you have had a nice week and managed to spend some time in the sunshine! Well done for successfully making it on to Teams. Most of the children have managed to ‘check in’ successfully and it looks like they are enjoying having a channel to chat to one another.
On Monday, I will add new channels to our Teams to allow learners to share their home learning. I will post another video guide to explain how to do this.
Many thanks for your continued support and patience as we move on to using Teams. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions. I can be contacted by e-mail through the school admin account or on Teams in the ‘Ask the Teacher’ channel.
Have a lovely weekend!
