Friday 22 May – P3

Hello P3!

Great to see so many of you are now active on Teams and managing your daily check in. It was fantastic to see the Questions channel being used yesterday so thank you to everyone who was involved in that.  Thank you also for the feedback about the spelling video.  I’m glad you found it useful.

From next week I will be adding a “Sharing” channel to our P3 site.  This will be a place to post photos of your work, tell us about an activity you have been doing etc.  You will also be able to post a comment or an emoji if you like someone else’s post.

Home learning activities will also be posted on Teams from next week.  I will make a video to show you where these will be saved and how you can access them.

Here is the handwriting for this week.

Thursday 21 May – P3

Good morning P3!

Well done to everyone who took part in the shape challenge on Sumdog yesterday.  You all did really well!  6 people had accuracy rates that were higher than 90% and they were Aaron, Caitlin G, Callum, Harris, Holly and Sylvie – fantastic effort, well done!

Some parents have asked for clarification about spelling so I have posted some information on the “Questions” channel in Teams.

Great to see so many of you having a go at the spelling challenge this week, you can see  my answers below.

Miss Fraser 🙂

Wednesday 20 May – P3

Good morning everyone.  I have posted a little video on Teams that will hopefully help with the daily check in.  It is great to see so many of you are remembering to check in each day.  It is important that we get in the habit of this.

I have set up a shape challenge on Sumdog today so if you want to play along you can log in after 9am.  I can track your answers and I will be looking to see who has the greatest number of correct answers.  The challenge finishes at 3.15pm. Good luck!

I have used coins for this week’s spelling challenge.  The 20p is for consonants and the 1p is for vowels.  I look forward to seeing your guesses!

Miss Fraser 🙂

Tuesday 19 May – P3

Good morning everyone.  I hope you enjoyed the long weekend.

This week I would like you to continue to check in each day on Teams please.  We are getting more people signing in each day which has been great to see.  You can check in any time during the day.  Please look for my daily post on Teams and then click reply to “check in”.  You can post an emoji or a greeting.

Don’t forger to check Twitter if you want to have a go at “Guess the ingredients” for this week.

I have posted the number of the day questions and the spelling words for you at the bottom of this post.

Miss Fraser 🙂

18.05.20 – 22.05.20

Are you ready to explore sense number four? This week is all about your sense of taste. Hopefully, you are in for a yummy, scrummy week of exploring your taste buds. Our challenge for you this week is to try something you have never tasted before…or even more daring is to try something again that you have decided you do not like. Our tastes change as we get older so sometimes there are things we didn’t like when we were young that we love to eat now, and vice versa.

Did you know..?

  • You can’t taste well if you cannot smell. These two senses are very closely linked together.
  • Your tongue is made up of 8 different muscles that intertwine and work together.
  • Your tongue-print is as unique as your fingerprint.

As always, there are many different suggestions on the Home Learning grid to give you ideas. These can be used or adapted as you require. As always, please just get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.

Don’t forget that Monday is and Edinburgh Holiday so make sure you take a break and are being kind to yourselves.

There has been lots of amazing learning this week, including some blindfolded taste tests, sorting and ordering toys and sticks in terms of their length, learning to squeeze the juice from oranges/lemons and some super writing about taste preferences. We have loved seeing families exploring their own interests and sharing their activities with us through the Online Journals. Also, some of our Primary 1s took part in a world record breaking attempt for the biggest art lesson!

Thank you to all of our P1 families. We appreciate all of your effort in these incredibly difficult circumstances. We miss you all so very much.

I’m looking forward to engaging with the children through Teams next week. Please do not worry if Teams seems a little overwhelming and confusing at the minute. I will be posting guidance and videos to guide the children on Tuesday morning.

Have a great long weekend!
