Water Week in Primary 1

04.05.20 – 08.05.20

This week we have been celebrating ‘Water Week‘ at Roseburn. We hope you have enjoyed exploring all things water related and have had some fun with siblings and family along the way.

In P1, our key learning for this topic is:

  • Water is very important in nature – living things need food, water and care to grow and survive
  • We use water all of the time in our day-to-day activities
  • Water can be found in three main states – ice, water and steam
  • You can change the state of water through boiling, freezing and melting
  • Different containers have different capacities – and sometimes looks can be deceiving

Here is a snapshot of some of the fantastic learning that has taken place in Primary 1 this week…

We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our families for getting involved and sharing their wonderful learning.

HL Grid and Resources for week beginning 11th May

Hello P6,

Well done for everyone who has managed to log into Teams. We know there have been a few issues so thank you for persevering with it! We are waiting for a few more to log in so please, if you have managed to log in and can access all the materials then let us know in the check-in channel.

Home Learning Grids and all the resources will be available on TEAMS. You can access everything under GENERAL – FILES and then select the folder (although this might change but we will let you know).

We will put up the HL grid and resources for 11th May on the website but ideally we want to move towards having resources only on Teams. We will only do so once we know everyone has managed to log in.

If you are having any problems, please contact us via admin.

Thursday 7 May – P3

Hello P3

It has been wonderful to see all your creativity this week.  Thanks to everyone who has emailed or tweeted to let me know how you have been getting on.

Thanks also to those who took part in my “Guess the ingredients” challenge this week.  My ingredients were: butter, sugar, egg, vanilla essence, condensed milk, baking powder, baking soda, coconut, cornflakes, flour.  I have posted the recipe on the website if you want to try making these at home.

Another story time video will be emailed to you later today.

Don’t forget, no school tomorrow……it’s a holiday!

Have a great weekend,

Miss Fraser 🙂

P4/5 & P5 Water Week – Numeracy

Good morning P4/5 & P5!

I hope you are all enjoying the activities as part of water week! We have both really enjoyed seeing some of your home learning that has been sent in, a fantastic range of activities being done at home.

Part of our maths focus this term is on measurement, and this week we’d like you to have a think about measuring volumes of liquids.

Here are some questions for you to think about and talk about with someone at home…

What is volume? What units of measurement do we use for liquids? Does that change based on how much liquid there is to measure? How do me measure volume, what tools/instruments do we need?

Activity

There are lots of maths activities on the weekly grid for you to try, but you can try this activity from the textbooks in your home-learning pack

Remember you can always share your home learning through the school twiter, or by sending it to the school e-mail: admin@roseburn.edin.sch.uk

Have a great day,

Mr Carson & Mrs Scott

Wednesday 6 May – P3
