Art Home Learning

In Art  and Design I am learning to…

Explore colour

Fold a piece a sheet of A4 paper in half  three times. Open it up and you will have 8 sections. In each section add a different colour – you could do this with any artmaterials you have at home – pencils, pens, paint, pastels…or even with paper from a magazine.

Now use your imagination to give each colour a name, for example, ‘muddy brown’ or ‘cloudy grey’ – can you write these beside your colours?

Challenge – do this with just one writing pencil or one coloured pencil. Can you create eight different shades? Can you make names for them all? Midnight blue, deep sea blue, summer sky……

P7 Art and Design 23.3.20

In Art  and Design I am learning to use the shape and pattern observed in the Scottish Parliament building to design merchandise.

Following on from our work to create designs for place mats, t-shirts and magnets, develop your ideas further to create designs for a piece of jewellery. Create several sketches then produce a more detailed drawing which includes notes to explain your design. You could design earrings, cuff links,  a bracelet, a tie pin, a necklace…..or even a matching set!

Remember to consider your colour choice!

Monday 23rd March

Good Afternoon P4,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend in the sunshine that and your first day of home learning has been a success. It has been a little unusual working from home and I am missing you all very much.

I have updated the website with the documents from the home learning packs and have uploaded our class timetable to give you an idea of how much time we roughly spend on each curricular area. Please use this as a guide and adjust as appropriate for the home environment.

I will update the website each day to provide some intended learning for Literacy and Numeracy and to guide you towards some of the appropriate resources in your learning packs to support this learning. This will hopefully offer parents a little more structure and support.

If this is all a little overwhelming, please just do what you feel will work best for you and your child. This is a completely new challenge for us all and we need to be kind to ourselves and do our best!

Take care,

Miss Prentice

Working from Home

Hi P7. I am so pleased to see so many of you have already been using Teams this morning. I will send you a message each morning during term time with suggestions of what to do.

Please do not try to replicate school in your homes. I don’t expect this from anyone. I would like you all to do some Maths, Literacy and half an hour of reading each day. You could then do something creative like some art, drama, music or dance. You could also begin work on a project about something that interests you. This could be an animal, famous person, country or anything else. Use this opportunity to become independent learners, a skill you will need for High School and beyond. Write that book you’ve always wanted to. Keep a diary of events over the next while. We are in living history and someone may want to read your diary in years to come. Just look at Anne Frank!

Remember to make sure you try to get fresh air and exercise each day too. That’s really important. Be helpful at home and learn a new skill. There will be prizes for this! And just remember to be kind as everyone is going through these tough times together.

P7 Learning

Hi P7. I am so pleased that so many of you have already engaged in our Teams chat. I will speak to you every day during the school term to check how you are getting on.

I have uploaded some documents on here which you should also have in your packs to help with your learning. You should try to do some Maths, Literacy and half an hour of reading each day. You should also remember to exercise and be creative. You could do some art, music, drama or dance. You could write that story you’ve always wanted to. You could start a project to learn about something that interests you e.g. a favourite animal, a famous person, a country, the list is endless.

It would also be great to write a diary, recording your feelings in the days ahead. We are living in history in the making and you could have a record of this to share when it is all over.

Please don’t try to recreate school at home. This is not about following a school timetable and replicating school conditions. This is an opportunity for you to practise being independent learners, taking responsibility for your own learning. Learn new skills and try to help those around you as we face some very challenging times ahead.

Look after each other and remember to always be kind.

Mrs Reid

School Closure Weekly Plans

I will be uploading a weekly learning timetable here every week while school is closed. I must stress that this is a guide and I fully appreciate that it will not always be possible to complete all activities. Please do what you can and what works best for you at home. I have added a STEM and grammar grid. Why not try one of the fun activities as part of your learning at home this week.
