P5 Art and Design 31.3.20

In Art  and Design we are learning to explore tone and proportion in observational drawing.

We have learning about inventions through the ages – look for a modern day object in your house and do a detailed pencil drawing looking carefully at shape and proportion. Use your pencil with different amounts of pressure to add tone

Try a different item from last week – a bicycle, a kettle, a microwave, a toaster, a mobile phone, a laptop….check with an adult before drawing these! Perhaps you could draw a waterproof jacket – a modern version of the ‘Mackintosh’!

Please share your work on Twitter! We’d love to see it!

In Art  and Design we are learning to create  still life images.
We have been looking at the work of Samuel Peploe – you could google this to see more of his work.

Set up your own still life scene using fruit or vegetables ( tins or bottles would also do ). You could place the objects on a tea towel or piece of fabric. Draw what you see. *Top tip – draw the fruit first, then place the bowl or plate around the fruit.

Think about how you could add colour – pencil, felt pen, paint, chalk, collage? ( Old magazines are great for finding colours and patterns ).

Why not share your completed work on Twitter? It would be lovely to see what you have created!

P4
In Art and Design we are learning to use colour and shape effectively.

To link in with your learning about different climates, create a picture using the ideas in the one below.

  1. Draw an animal from your chosen climatic zone – polar, cold, temperate, dry, tropical – it does not have to be in the middle of the page – think about composition!
  2. Fill the background with gentle wavy lines to suggest water, ground, hills, skies…..
  3. Fill the background with hot or cold colours to match your zone – use any media you have available – pens, coloured pencils, pastels, paints….or a mixture!
  4. You can colour your animal too!
  5. Why not share your image on Twitter? We’d love to see it!

P6 Art and Design 31.3.20

In Art  and Design we are learning to show ‘mood’ in our figure drawing.

Last week your task was to capture some family members on paper. This week you should try a self portrait! It could be your face, your upper body or your whole body.

Use a mirror to help you or take a photo and work from that. Sketch lightly in pencil first then press harder and add detail when you are happy with the shape.

What mood does the body shape suggest? Relaxed? Tired? Inspired?

Use your pencil with different amounts of pressure to add TONE to your work.

Please feel free to share your work on Twitter, it would be great to see the results!

P1 Home Learning – Week 1 Catch Up

Hi all,

We hope you are finding the daily emails useful and easy to follow. Here are the links to the documents that we sent you last week – in case you would like to refer back to them. Generally, each week follows the same pattern and so it should, hopefully, be easier to anticipate what you can fit into your day from now on.

Please remember that our key message is to do whatever suits you and your family best. If this structure isn’t working for you, there are so many life skills you could be exploring instead:

  • Learn how to recognise and write your full name – surnames are often tricky!
  • Learn your home address/ telephone number
  • Make a card for a neighbour to brighten their day
  • Cooking – how to follow a recipe/ weighing/ measuring/ chopping/ peeling/ mashing/ juicing
  • How to tie shoe laces/ do up buttons/ zip up coats
  • How to make a bed/ clean the house
  • How to change independently/ fold clothes
  • How to care for a plant/ pet

We miss you all,

Mrs Thirgood and Miss White
